EF Picnic

Last weekend was full of picnics.  We originally had 3 scheduled, but Maddi Jo had to work on Friday night, so we bowed out of the choir picnic that evening.  We did make it to the debate picnic on Saturday, early afternoon, and the EF picnic on Sunday.  The weather held for both, and both were fun (and good food).  Debbie spent most of her weekend doing her homework - she is SO conscientious (and so exhausted).  Here's hoping things get a bit easier! 

Some of the EF families are planning a trip to Minnesota (Mall of America) in October - and I believe we are going to plan a trip to the Omaha Zoo on October 3.  We have to throw some fun in there, too!

A fun evening

Last Saturday night, we went to Willie Wilson's Legends game at Community America Ballpark.  Some of baseball's greats played for the charity, Quest to Walk.   From the Royals, Amos Otis, John Mayberry, Dennis Leonard, and many others played a really fun 7-inning exhibition game.  The evening was beautiful, and the party after lots of fun.  My brother Dennis Riffer, and his son-in-law, Curt Thompson got to play with some of their idols, we forced some blue cotton candy on Debbie, and we spent a nice evening with family and friends.

Maddi's very favorite restaurant is Chipotle.  So within Debbie's first week, we made the obligatory trip.  The first picture is a little blurry - but I had to share because it shows how far she got on her burrito.  Maddi Jo of course finished hers, hence the pose.  All in all, Debbie seemed to enjoy :)

First Day of School...

Well, it wasn't all smooth sailing for Debbie on her first day of school.  Some miscommunication occurred, and unfortunately she didn't run into a lot of helpful people - so it was a little rough going.  However, the good news is that the first day is behind her...  And she looked really cute!

Fortunately, after a couple of rough days, today was much better!  Her English gets better every day, and she learns so quick.  She is tired, as she should be, she is working hard.  We are going to do a lot of relaxing this weekend for sure!

A busy week!

This week, Debbie has enrolled in school, has been to the movies twice - met a few of Maddi's friends, been to Deanna Rose farm, run all over shopping (Walmart, Target, Oak Park Mall, Kohls, Kansas Sampler, etc.) visited Chipotle and ChickFilA, Sonic, walked the dogs and met a lot of the family.  I think we have worn her out!  School starts Tuesday, but there is a new student orientation on Monday, so more pictures soon.

She's here!  We are so happy to have her.  She is very sweet and very smart and we hope she has a great year!
